PHASE IV LACEY ACT DECLARATION BEGINS ON APRIL 1, 2010

As part of the Lacey Act revisions, importers of any plant or plant product must file a declaration (PPQ form 5050) upon importation.  The Lacey Act makes it unlawful to import certain plants and plant products without an import declaration.  The import declaration must contain, among other things, the scientific name (i.e. genus & species) of the plant and plant product, and the name of the country from where the plant was harvested.
